What is the Move Movement?

This is our local initiative to get people moving! Walking, hiking, running, swimming, we support it all. As we live in a historically unhealthy area, we hope to promote awareness and motivation to simply MOVE!

Half Marathon Training Class

August 28th-November 2nd

​

This is a 10-week in-person training program designed for those 16 years or older with beginner running experience who want to complete their first or fastest half marathon.

​

IS THIS CLASS FOR YOU?
-Have you run or run/walked 3 miles without stopping in the last month?

-Are you interested in a new challenge?

​-Have you run a half marathon in the past, but it's been a while?

-Does your schedule allow for 3-4 runs per week?

-Are you over the age of 16?

​

Participants will meet as a group with coaches once a week, alternating Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, and will receive workouts including cross training for other days of the week.

 

Cost of session is $125. You'll receive a team t-shirt, 10 weeks of coaching and workouts, a pair of Feetures technical running socks, a discount on the race, info about form, nutrition, and cross training, a fun team to hold you accountable and the best chance of completing your first or fastest half marathon. Registration fee for the half marathon is not included in cost of class.

The end of season race is the Marshall University Half Marathon held in Huntington, WV on November 2nd. See more info about the race here: Marshall University Marathon.

 

Meetings will be held at Ritter Park, near the main playground on alternating Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the session.

Meeting schedule is as follows:

Thursdays 6pm   8/28, 9/11, 9/25, 10/9, 10/23, 10/30

Saturdays 7:30am  9/6, 9/20, 10/4, 10/18

 

Registration and cash or check payment can be mailed to Robert's Running and Walking Shop 3591 US Route 60 Huntington, WV 25705. Checks should be made out to Kathleen Smith. Payment can also be made via Venmo @katsmith266. No refunds or deferments.

 

Session caps at 40 runners. Sign up early!

What if I have to miss a few classes?

No problem! If you let me know a few days before the class you'll be missing, I can send the info for you to complete the workout on your own. While we do see best results with consistent class attendance, as long as you are motivated, missing a few classes is not an issue.

MEET THE COACH:​​

KAT - Kat has been running competitively since she was 9 years old, including high school athletics at Twinsburg High School (OH) and track and cross country at Marshall University from 2007-2011. She has competed in multiple events after college including trail races, half marathons, and marathons. She started the Move Movement in 2014 after realizing there was a lot of demand for running coaching. She is an RRCA Certified Running Coach and has coached 8 sessions of the Beginner Running Class, including over 300 participants. Kat is currently COO of Robert's Running Shop in Huntington.
